UK Imports is the core activity for Toga Freight for over 40 years.
We offer the full spectrum of services from all parts of the UK.
At the heart of our service are our valued partners, many of whom we have developed a strong working relationship with over decades.
Our UK partners each collect our goods for our customers in their own area. These goods are then consolidated at the partners depot together with their own goods, and mixed trailers are then loaded for onward travel to Dublin through the night. On average, we load up to 20 consolidated groupage trailers daily from our partners in:
Working with our partners, Toga load around 120 groupage trailers in Great Britain every week.
We also have many manufacturing and wholesale customers, from whom we collect palletised shipments from on a daily basis. On average, we collect around 800 pallets every day in Great Britain.
In addition, we are the Irish Depot of the giant UK parcel and pallet network, DX, which gives us connections across the UK via that network. We load multiple mixed groupage trailers every day from the DX Hubs.
Toga’s imports division in Dublin also collects direct on trailer from over 30 UK based customers who ship full loads, part loads and multiple delivery mixed trailers weekly groupage trailers from the DX Hub in Willenhall weekly.
Departures from each partner depot vary due to the driving distance from the ferry ports.
From the partners in the London area we depart at around 6pm and those trucks ship “driver accompanied” on the Holyhead to Dublin route. The depots in Liverpool and the Midlands ship unaccompanied usually from Liverpool to Dublin or Heysham to Warrenpoint. The North East partners generally depart at 6pm and ship Cairnryan to Belfast.
The Toga imports department generally ship direct, accompanied via Holyhead.
This range of departures and shipping routes gives us tremendous flexibility and fail-safe protection in the event of stormy weather or traffic delays or industrial action. We are able to switch bookings around to ensure that the most urgent trailers ship in preference to trailers containing less urgent cargo.
The contents of our “groupage” trailers can be very varied and contain products purchased on internet shopping sites as well as commercial goods. Our direct load clients also ship a range of products and most of this traffic is regular, weekly repeat business.
A typical day could see around 800 pallet consignments arriving in our Dublin transit warehouse consisting of the following range of products:
All 9 of our partner depots, along with the entire DX network utilise a range of vehicles from small vans right up to double decker trailers. So, collecting your goods to return to the local depot will never be a problem.
On the international routes we load a range of high cube artic vehicles, including:
For safety and security, most of our pharmaceutical, toys and giftware traffic travels in box trailers that can be securely locked and sealed. However, most of the standard groupage travels on 45ft curtainsider trailers.
