Following the opening of Toga Group’s UK Hub in Birmingham in November 2024, a significant investment in the route was announced by Toga’s Operations Director, Darragh Toner:
“We’re seeking to control our costs more closely that was possible with a 100% sub-contracted fleet working our international line hauls. So we’ve decided to add a fleet of high volume, double-decker trailers that will operate between Birmingham and Dublin depots via the Port of Holyhead.”
The SDC trailers have been supplied by Dublin based Hireco, whose depot is just 2 miles from Toga’s Dublin 12 headquarters.
The trailers design will avoid the need to double stack customer’s cargo on top of other cargo as there are fixed decks that allow up to 46 pallets to be safely loaded without the risk of damage to goods.
Initially four trailers have been delivered in 2024 with more to follow early in 2025. Volumes from Birmingham suggest that there will be up to six departures every day between Birmingham and Dublin and back again.
